My Therapeutic Approach

I am a Clinical Psychologist offering evidence-based psychological therapy for adults. I specialise in helping people better understand themselves and better meet their individual needs to live a life with less suffering, more joy, and more fulfilment. My approach is authentic, compassionate, and specifically tailored to you.

I have a keen interest in working with people who have just found out (either through diagnosis or through personal discovery) that they are neurodivergent. Perhaps the journey to this realisation has brought you relief, validation, confusion, grief, or burnout. Therapy can provide a space to process these experiences, develop self-understanding, and explore ways of living that feel more authentic and sustainable.

My practice is integrative, which means I draw on a variety of therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focussed Therapy, Mindfulness, Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

My qualifications and experience

HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist

I am a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, having completed doctoral-level training at the University of Glasgow. This training provides expertise in understanding mental health difficulties, conducting comprehensive assessments, and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) means that I have met the standards of training, professional competence, and ethical practice required to work as a practitioner psychologist in the UK, and that I maintain these standards through ongoing professional development.

Clinical Practice

UK Clinical Psychology training is unique in combining extensive supervised clinical experience with doctoral-level research training. This means Clinical Psychologists are trained not only to provide assessment and therapy, but also to critically evaluate evidence, understand emerging research, and apply evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs. Across my career, I have delivered psychological therapies to adults and children with a wide range of mental health problems. I have worked in hospitals, community clinics, schools, and helped people at home. This breadth of experience has given me an understanding of how psychological difficulties can affect people in different contexts and at different stages of life. It has also helped me develop a flexible, compassionate approach, allowing me to tailor therapy to your individual circumstances, strengths, and goals.

Research

In addition to my clinical training and practice, I have extensive research experience. I completed a PhD on adolescent depression and have published research on human values, people's experiences of therapy, and autistic wellbeing. This research background helps me stay engaged with developments in psychological knowledge and ensures that my work is grounded in evidence as well as clinical experience. I believe that effective therapy involves understanding not only psychological difficulties, but also the person behind them. My research has reinforced the importance of listening carefully to people's individual experiences, values, and identities, particularly when working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties or neurodivergence. This helps me provide support that is evidence-based, collaborative, and tailored to what matters most to you.
